Hey, I tried some mesquite wood pellets in my gas grill. It seemed to work great on the smoked potato and steak. 2/3 of a cup lasted 1 hour (1/3 per 1/2 hour) . I thought it smelled a bit funny at first, maybe not, but the taste was great. I've been experimenting with different combos of gas grilling with wood and with different charcoals in my Weber kettle grill. Has anyone had bad experiences using the wood pellets?

I like the wood pellets. They work very well, but, don't use too many on small cuts or ground meat. I found out that you can throw too much smoke and make the meat bitter.
The BBQ'RS delight makes good pellets, and so does Jack Daniel's.
By the way, I get better results in a foil pack than with a smoker box, using pellets.
