hi guys i have 2 simple questions ive never tryed brining first im doing a chicken what should i use for the brine i know i use salt and second is it ok to brine in a metel container

Some people like to use salt and sugar but I prefer salt alone, and the standard seems to be about 1 cup of table salt per gallon of water. Of course, you can add whatever else you want for flavor but if this is your first time you might want to use salt only to give you a baseline.
