COLO. WINTER GRILLING

SIXTEEN INCHES AND COUNTING…

Barbecuing and grilling fans Jarod Nesladek and Megan Moody didn’t let wintry weather get in the way of grilling strip steaks one recent February night. The couple, from Westminster, Colorado, reported it was still snowing when they shoveled a path to their charcoal grill. Jarod confessed in his e-mail to Steven that he usually uses a chimney starter to get the coals going, but relapsed when faced with hunger and cold weather…thus the flames. Yes, he used lighter fluid to get the fire started, but swears he let the coals burn down to ash-covered embers before throwing the meat on.
For Steven’s winter grilling tips (none of which involve lighter fluid), check out the January issue of his monthly newsletter, Up in Smoke. (A link to the archives is on the Home Page of this website).
