Game Day! A Superlative Menu for Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl menu

Top two photos by Richard Dallett.

I’m writing from Palm Springs, California, where a very dedicated film crew and I are shooting Season 2 of Steven Raichlen’s Project Smoke, the show I created to prove smoking is the new grilling.

But I haven’t forgotten that this Sunday—Super Bowl Sunday—is the second biggest eating day in the U.S. next to Thanksgiving. (Can you believe this is the 50th Super Bowl?)

When the Denver Broncos meet the Carolina Panthers at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 7, millions of Americans will be watching from the comfort of their homes. The cheapest tickets I found online—which include two hours of an open bar plus barbecue—are going for $2750.

Seriously? Just imagine the great party you and your grill or smoker could throw for the price of one ticket.

Here are six of my favorite Super Bowl-worthy recipes (click on the photos or titles below). May your team win. P.S. This is one of those many times when a remote thermometer is a great asset. You won’t miss any important plays when you have a Maverick long range wireless thermometer set.
