Simplify Your Holiday With a Pre-Cooked Whole Turkey

This post is brought to you by Southside Market and Barbecue, which provided advertising support.

The pressures of hosting holiday gatherings are many. Thanksgiving morning may find you scrambling to find enough folding chairs and sets of silverware to fit your extended family and friends, timing side dishes and casseroles on four different kitchen timers, and keeping the dog from pawing at the wonderfully-scented hors d’oeuvres. That’s not to mention the centerpiece of the day: the turkey!

One of the key elements of both the delicious flavor and artful presentation of the Thanksgiving dinner is the golden, juicy turkey. Considering everything else you’re preparing, why not relieve the stress of basting and timing the turkey, and order a pre-smoked turkey?

The Benefits of a Pre-Cooked Thanksgiving Turkey

Pre-cooked turkeys simplify the day. They are expertly smoked, meaning you can’t possibly overcook it. And it won’t take up valuable prep space in your already hectic kitchen. Plus, the hours you would have spent seasoning, turning and basting can be spent with your friends and family rather than at the grill, oven, smoker or deep fryer.

Where to Buy a Pre-Cooked Thanksgiving Turkey

Southside Market’s convenient online order and shipping makes it a no-brainer when searching out a pre-cooked bird. Their Whole Smoked Turkey is seasoned with their own custom blend of spices and smoked slow over real Texas post oak wood.

You won’t believe how succulent this turkey is! Each turkey weighs in at 12-14 pounds and is available for shipping nationwide.

How to Prepare a Precooked Turkey

Defrost the turkey per instructions (can take a few days, plan ahead!). Place turkey in a roasting pan, cover pan with foil. Place in preheated 350 degree oven for 1.5 – 2 hours (much shorter cooking time than starting with a raw turkey!). Be sure the internal temperature of the meat reaches 165 degrees for food safety.

You’ll notice that there are no instructions for basting, rotating, stuffing or injecting the turkey. The simple preparation is where you save time and effort.
