Candied Orange S’Mores

Candied Orange S’mores

S’mores meet the griddle in this dessert. Graham crackers are layered with marshmallow, candied orange slices, and dark chocolate, then griddled in butter until the crackers are browned and the chocolate and marshmallow begin to melt.

Recipe Notes

  • Advance Prep: None, if using prepared candied orange slices
  • Active Prep: 10 minutes
  • Grill Time: About 4 minutes
  • Total Time: About 15 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4
  • Method: Griddling
  • Equipment: Griddle, offset spatula, fork, griddle dome (optional)

Ingredients

  • 8 graham crackers (preferably cinnamon graham crackers)
  • 4 marshmallows (or 1/2 cup marshmallow fluff), thinly sliced
  • 8 candied orange slices
  • 4 ounces thin super premium dark chocolate (8 squares)
  • 3 tablespoons cold unsalted butter

Recipe Steps

1: Make 4 sandwiches. Place a graham cracker on your work surface. Top with marshmallow slices, candied orange slices, and chocolate. Top with another graham cracker.

2: Heat your griddle to medium-high. Impale half the butter on a fork and rub it over the griddle to grease it. Place the graham cracker sandwiches atop the butter. Griddle until the bottoms are browned and the marshmallows start to melt, 2 minutes.

3: Rebutter the griddle with the remaining butter. Using an offset spatula, gently invert the sandwiches and griddle until the bottoms are browned again and the marshmallows and chocolate are melted. You may need to place a griddle dome over s’mores to speed up the melting process.

4: Serve hot off the griddle with plenty of napkins.
