Chipotle Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

Recipe Notes

  • Total Time: 20 Minutes
  • Yield: 2 Cups

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1 to 2 canned chipotle chiles, minced with 1 to 2 teaspoons can juices
  • 1 teaspoon freshly and finely grated lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

Recipe Steps

1: Place the ingredients in a heavy saucepan and whisk to mix. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, whisking often. Reduce the heat to obtain a gentle simmer and simmer the sauce, uncovered, until thick and richly flavored, 5 minutes or as needed. Correct the seasoning, adding salt and pepper to taste.
