Merlot Honey Glaze

This simple recipe, which takes only minutes to make, combines Merlot (feel free to use another good red wine, if desired), honey, balsamic vinegar, and sugar for a glaze that complements duck, salmon, pork tenderloin, or chicken.

Recipe Notes

  • Yield: Makes 1/2 cup

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Merlot wine
  • 3/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

Recipe Steps

Step 1: Place the vinegar, honey, sugar, and soy sauce in a heavy nonreactive saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Simmer the mixture until thick, syrupy, and reduced to about 1/2 cup, 6 to 8 minutes. The glaze will thicken as it cools.
