Recipe Notes
- Yield: Serves 8
- Method: Direct grilling
Ingredients
- 8 homemade or store-bought buttermilk biscuits, halved, or 1/2 inch slices of pound cake
- 4 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted), melted
- 4 cups fresh strawberries, stemmed and sliced
- 2 to 3 tablespoons sugar, depending on the sweetness of the berries
- 1 tablespoon orange-flavored liqueur (optional)
- Smoked Whipped Cream
Recipe Steps
1: Brush the biscuits with melted butter (cut sides, too) and set aside. Combine the strawberries with the sugar and liqueur, if using. Lightly smash with the back of a wooden spoon and set aside.
2: Set up your grill for direct grilling and preheat to medium high. Brush and oil the grill grate. Grill the biscuits on both sides until they have grill marks, 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to plates. Spoon the berries on one half of the biscuits, then top with the remaining half biscuit. Top with a generous dollop of Smoked Whipped Cream.
