Recipe Notes

  • Yield: Serves: 2
  • Method: Direct and Plancha grilling

Ingredients

For the marinade:

  • Zest and juice of one orange
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves smashed
  • 2 one-inch pieces of ginger peeled and smashed
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 star anise
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

For the meat:

  • 8 ounces filet mignon tenderloin tips

You’ll also need:

Recipe Steps

1: Make the orange-soy marinade: Combine all the marinade ingredients except the brown sugar and whisk to combine.

2: Place the tenderloin tips in the marinade and marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Drain the meat. Strain the marinade into a saucepan, discarding any solids, and add the brown sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Boil for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the marinade is reduced.

3: Heat your grill to high. Scrape and oil the grates. Place the tips on the hot grill grate and turn as each side develops color.

4: Baste with the orange-soy sauce. Total cooking time is about 6 minutes.
